On May 11, 2002, through the generosity of Carol Craswell
(Kelbren Shelties),
we welcomed Chet into our home.
Chet settled beautifully into our home, and we can't thank Carol enough for
allowing him to join our sheltie family. Chet is such a happy dog. No matter
what he's doing or where he is, he's always smiling and wagging his tail.
Chet's promise as a show prospect and his lovely structure were apparent
at an early age as evidenced by this photo of him at 16 weeks of age.
FLASH: On July 25, 2003 at
two and a half years of age, Chet finished his American Championship. We'd
like to say a special thank you to Rose Linton George (Glendower Shelties)
for putting those delightful first three points on Chet and to Judy Stachowski
(HeartSong Shelties) who put both majors and the remaining points on him.
Rose and Judy did a lovely job of presenting Chet to the judges, and we were
thrilled to have them at the end of the lead for Chet's wins.
Chet is the first American and the first Canadian champion for his dam, and
he is the second American champion for his sire.
Genetic testing is very important to us, and Chet has had all of the appropriate
testing. |

In only a handful of breedings, Chet sired four AKC breed champions, three
MACH's, and a VCX. Additionally, Chet has multiple offspring that are titled
in Rally, Obedience, and Herding.
Our first litter sired by Chet was born in January 2005, and our first homebred
champion, CH MACH6 CastleGate's Daily News XF
T2B HT CGC VCX came from that litter. We repeated that breeding
in March 2007, and we kept MACH10 CastleGate's
Mercy Me XF T2B from that litter. Photos and pedigrees for
Geraldo and
Zelda can be seen on their individual pages.
We tragically lost our beautiful blue boy on February 21, 2009. He'll live
in our hearts and in our memories until we are reunited with him again at
The Rainbow Bridge. You can read our tribute
to Chet here.
"We just love it when Chet flashes us one of his trademark smiles!"
