Our second Chet x Daily litter was born on May 14, 2007, and it was a litter of all black girls—three tri’s and one bi-black.  At an early age, it became apparent that Zelda was going to be our “keeper” from that litter.  Like her brother, Geraldo (from the first Chet x Daily litter), Zelda was flashy and mouthy from the get go!!  <G>

When I was a child, my paternal grandmother would always say “mercy me!” when something out of the ordinary would happen.  Since Zelda continuously amazes us with her antics and her athletic prowess, we decided that “mercy me” was the perfect registered name for her.

Zelda is the fastest and most active sheltie that I’ve ever owned.  She is seldom at rest, and she lives to play fetch and to do agility.   On November 30, 2008, Zelda competed in her first agility trial, and she had a blast!!  Not only did she qualify, but she took first place in the 16” Novice JWW class as well.  One week later, she earned her second Novice JWW leg and another first place finish. After some time off for the holidays, she finished her NAJ in style with another first placement on January 3, 2009.

Sometimes the Happy Dance turns into a Conga Line instead! <G>

At the end of every agility run, Zelda does her version of an end zone dance, and we call it her Happy Dance.  It basically consists of her jumping up to my shoulder height and then dancing around on her hind legs after she lands while I try to put her leash on!!  <G>

In 2010, Zelda took a break from agility for motherhood, and she had three beautiful boys. Two of her puppies went to performance homes, and the third one, a flashy blue merle boy named Tequila, is growing up at CastleGate. You can see pictures of Zelda's puppies on our Litters page.

When Zelda returned to the agility ring after raising her litter, she was on fire, and shortly thereafter, she earned her first MACH.  In lieu of taking a victory lap, I let Zelda "happy dance" in the ring to her heart's content instead.  She thought that was ultra cool!! Two days later at the same trial, Geraldo earned his MACH2.  So, we celebrated all weekend!!

On July 17, 2011, Zelda finished her MACH2 at the CABTC Trial in North Olmsted, OH on her last run of the weekend! I was very proud of Zelda for running flawlessly and fast despite my nerves. She knew she had done something good, and she happy danced to the max at the end of our run. Zelda earned her second MACH in less than six months after her first one!
